Hi

Looking for a reliable 17" laptop with SSD drive and shed loads of RAM for photo editing. Can anyone recommend me one or at least a make to concentrate on. I have not had a laptop for about 20 years so am well out of touch. I have had a look on line and I think I want something in between a gaming laptop and a std laptop. The most power hungry programmes will be LR and PS latest editions.

Budget around £1000

Thanks in advance.

Ok if I 'had' to go with a laptop this one is a very nice spec.

Apologies just seen its not a 17, let me go back...

Ok I'd still choose the above but #9 in this list is good. https://www.wiknix.com/best-laptop-for-photo-editing/

Of course for that money you could get a desktop that would absolutely shame it performance wise...;-)
Good choice! I have been looking at that one as it has been recommended on other sites.

Problem is I am looking to replace my aging 27" iMac which has been great but replacing it will cost over £2k. Not bothered about going back to Windows as Windows 10 looks pretty awesome and very Mac-like. It would be really handy to be more mobile so looking at the largest screen laptops but really want a SSD drive. The SSD is a real driving force behind upgrading.

Appearances can be deceptive ;)

Does it really have to be a 17" display? You could get a Retina 13" Macbook Pro and a large display for your desk for a bit more than your budget.

Thats worth looking into!

Will have a look, thanks

Laptop screens are normally a compromise. Personally I'd get something smaller (not necessarily a laptop) and spend the change on a nice 27"
This is something I am considering. What are the options?
