Hey,

I am looking to buy a ten inch digital frame for my wife as part of her birthday but am getting lost with what brand/model to buy.

I was looking at a Sony one for about £130 but it has a 16:9 display which is rather pointless.

Could somebody recommend me a good 10" frame. I am not too worried about price as long as it looks good and has a nice crisp display.

Cheers.

I have a 10" Kodak frame which I spent a fair while researching as the quality varies wildly - its not the new model but the older one with the black frame.

This one:

But you can get it for a lot cheaper than Kodak are selling them for.

The only drawback with this frame is that the USB connector is a mini USB for some unknown reason, however they do supply a short cable to convert mini usb to a normal USB but it would have been better to just use a standard USB connector (but that might just be me).

I even looked at building my own out of a laptop too but chickened out.

I was looking at the Sony frames in Selfridges just before Xmas and the qualty was really good - I think 16:9 is gonna appeal more to those watching films etc on there but I only use mine for rotating snapshots of when I was in NZ to help me remember those good times.

The Sony is leagues ahead when it comes to user interface and quality ive seen. I like the look of 16:9 format, but as you say all images need to be formatted unless you get black bands.

I bought a Sony 7" frame for my parents for Christmas, when i was looking at them the Sony had the best picture quality of everything out there, its also very user friendly an can be customized well. I found it half price before Christmas when nothing was selling its now £40 more expensive.
