Yes
The bessel vinyl rolls are 2.9m which is a little bit too wide, I have 2.72m paper up which is where my wall mounts are fixed.

Can I saw the vinyl roll down a few inches?

I wouldn't saw it as I don't know how the sawn end would look. Better to unroll it, mark where the cut will be and use a Stanley knife or scissors.

You could saw it with a hacksaw if it was fine enough. You never use the edge anyway.

I cut mine with a Stanley knife rolled up, just kept turning it round and following the last cut edges worked a treat... Mine wasn't from that supplier but was a 3mtr wide roll. It's now 2.7m

Phone Bessel before you order - the current cores are too small to fit on the expan type system (which I believe you use) without modification, they were going to move to larger cores.

Let us know if they've increased the internal diameter - the smallest size I could accommodate was 46mm.

i would like to know if the Expan inserts fit the Bessell tubes too .... i was going to buy 4 backgrounds and some Expan kits but if they dont fit its a lot of messing to make them fit ..

Found these on Fleabay ... backgrounds inner core tubes .... item No 120661698320

Could be worth a go and refit the vinyl on these somehow ..

Given the inner diameter spec for the above listing of

"Inner diameter is 45.82mm" the spec for genuine Manfrotto Expan units is 46mm - which was the same for my Chinese clones that's might be a bit close. The genuine Manfrotto Alloy core is 50mm.

Modifying the expan units to take slightly smaller cores isn't difficult - just a bit of a pain - you have to reduce the diameter of the inner black cone or bobbin and when you put them back on ensure the retaining nut is only wound on the threaded end to a minimum. I always intended to try the Bessel vinyl which is why I bought the Chinese cloned Expans - not too much money to waste if I ruined them reducing the bobbins/cones.

Heh yup, its too wide, although im going to file the plastic bits down so it fits as it looks like its just the black expanders that are too large.
