Bessel soft boxes any good ?

Besser
soft boxes any good ?

Yes, and certainly good value. Quite popular on this forum. Their softbox grids are pretty useless though - not tight enough squares to do the job.

Thanks
It was the grid that I was pertic

I concur, the rapid boxes are excellent although the grid is still in the wrapper as they are pretty much useless

Lencarta grids are better ? As good as bowens or elinnchrom ?

Would a Lencarta grid fit an Elinchrom soft box ?

tempted to buy the elinchrom but costs a fortune... £365 for box & grid !

Anyone have both and care to compare?

The Elinchrom ones seem decent enough but they only make grids for a few models and they're a little annoying as you have to disassemble the unit to put it on in place of the front diffuser. I'm surprised they haven't redesigned the Rotalux models to have a recessed design like most other brands.

You can pretty much tell how effective a grid is going to be just by looking at it. It's simply down to the depth of the vanes and the spacing. You'd be lucky to get one make of grid to fit another softbox - they need to be a close fit and pulled pretty tight to stop them flopping around.

I have a couple of Bessel for Elinchrom fit. The grids are pretty useless as already mentioned, the boxes are of reasonable quality and the quality of light is "nice", biggest issue is the actual fitting to the light is not very good at all. Does not seem to fit correctly and does not lock into place. We still use them but on the to do list to change to OEM when funds allow.
