weekly Bernd's 52 of 2016 - week 52: Celebrate added and done

Liking Spiky, maybe the people detract something no sure though. Artificial good idea for the theme, nice lighting and like the reflection of the crisp packet.

Nice idea Bernd.

I don't know the first thing about lighting but I think Paul @pjm1 knows his stuff so I'm agreeing with him. ;)

Great image for Artificial like the composition and how the coke stands out form the dark background

Thank you for all your comments!

I agree with Paul (and David) that the lighting could have been better. Alas, I'm rubbish with speedlights and there was not enough daylight available. This might be one for re-shoot week once I've learned my way around the mysteries of the proper use of a flashgun...

I like your 'spiky' shot very much and think your comment fits the composition of the photograph really well.
Very nicely composed image for 'artificial' and certainly on theme.

Perfect for the the theme Bernd.
Especially like the couple of airborne drops!

Hi Bernd, thank you for visiting my thread to comment and sorry it's taken so long to return the visit. I've almost caught up now so I've just had a look through yours and picked some favourites. I will try to keep up to date from now on!

You have a great variety of styles in your thread so far and my favourites are:
Metal - all that wonderful colour and textures!
Miniature - well seen and captured. The man in the background is ideally placed in the scene and this is perfect for the theme
Captive - a real sense of crowded movement while the eye is led naturally to the distracted expressions of the lady on the right hand side and the man behind her.
Abandoned - excellent low POV and narrow DOF together with the bold colours really makes the bike pop from the scene.
Danger - a strong street scene with a sense of danger from the crossing sign and also the impending darkness. Love that starburst!
Artificial - good choice of subject and well placed and exposed image

Good luck with the rest of the challenge.

Artificial - right on theme I particularly like the movement going on in the glass

Thank you for all your comments!

I've been lacking motivation, partially due to the atrocious weather, but I've finally caught up with the challenge.

You caught personal well. Liking horizontal as well. I was confused what it was till I went to Flickr. Did you photograph each separately?

Now, I do like the interpretation on Personal - personal space is so important and the bench shot so nicely captures that. I like Effort too ... especially with all that bright beautiful sky as a backdrop.

Hi Bernd, some good images there and - as importantly, great vision to see a couple of them in particular and recognise they'd make good photos!

Personal is a very nice spot and well taken. The only thing I'd do is process differently to increase the contrast. I'm guessing that from the soft shadows it was overcast (so sensible to exclude the sky if it wasn't particularly interesting) - although it does tend to reduce the contrast in a scene, so can allow you to bring a bit more pop back if you re-adjust for that.
Effort is a bit more of a grabshot for me, but keeps you up to date.
Technology is a nice take - it's very much on theme and your angle of view and depth of field add a good amount of perspective. Well captured.
Horizontal is excellent - a real "spot" which makes for a fantastic image and very intriguing. Well processed for me and basically just a great image and shows you have superb vision to recognise that it'll make a good picture (y)

... loving Personal ... good detail ... telling a story ...

Good catch up Bernd,

Personal is a good image, like Paul says maybe a bit of a contrast boost,
Effort - this is my favourite of your catch up. really like the composition and the lighting
Technology - bang on theme and nice and sharp
Horizontal - really cool image, makes you look and taking it all in, like the B&W also

Thank you for all your comments and constructive critique!

It was quite a bright and sunny day when I shot 'personal', but the scene was overshadowed by a five storey building just cropped out on the right hand side of the frame. I've boosted the contrast a bit, and yes, it looks much better. Although the bloke in the background waiting for the lift is now too bright...

Hi Bernd,
Personal - Didn't get it at first, but then it clicked. Very much a shot of personal space, well caught.
Effort - I initially thought this was 'vast', but I see where you're coming from. Great contrasting colours with the reds and blues. In-fact you have all 3 primary colours in use in that shot :)
Technology - Nicely sharp shot. A bit of a shame that you've clipped the raspberry logo in your cropping.
Horizontal - Sorry, not one of your strongest shots, not for me I'm afraid.

Some great photos there good catch up. I really like your horizontal (especially when I looked on flickr,) with the patterns
I also like the personal shot.

Thank you for your comments Tim and minx!

Finland eh? Nice...
The snow on the ground looks a bit under exposed as it's grey rather than white, but I don't think there is much you could do about that without blowing out the highlights in the sky.

Must admit I couldn't make out the horizontal at first, but when viewed on Flickr all became clearer. Really like that. Working in the Construction Industry over the years have had to replace and repair these. Never even gave them a thought for a pic. Like that a lot

Oh and while I am at it really like the miniature !

Thank you all for your comments!

Tim, the snow wasn't snow white to start with, so I think it came out correctly. It's mostly molten three days after I've taken that photo :)

Nice action shot, you've frozen the action well catching the water droplets and yet capturing a little bit of motion in one of the wings.
Very shoe-d in though, perhaps "roughhousing"
