weekly Bernd's 52 in 2017 - week 26: Face

I've been a bit busy the last weeks, so this was taken under time pressure near my office. It's a face of some sorts...

26 Face: Horse

I'm sure you know the crit with this, reminds me of the old joke "A horse walks into a bar... the barman says 'Why the long face?'". You've got some separation from the background and the eye is drawn to the subject so it does the job well enough.

Works for me bit more separation might have been better but as you say time was not on your side

Architecture - My catch ups haven't generally been going back as far as this but since you insisted... of course they wouldn't let you take pictures of it, it's the F**k You Building! Good pictures of what would be a great building if it was somewhere else a very long way away. Like at the bottom of the sea.
Broken - Great shot and well done for positioning the camera so subtly
Transport - nice and bright and eye-catching symmetry.
Minimalistic - You know when I wracking my brain to think of a subject a bookshelf with one book sprand to mind - but to do it with a book on minimalism is a trump card,
Pleasure - can't argue with a Magnum. Isn't the white patch in the background a street name sign? I wouldn't have cloned any of it out - it's the hard urban heat that the Magnum's a relief from.
Face - Well focussed and separate enough from the background to get the job done.

A bit of a busy and bright background Brnd, I'm still liking the subject matter, it is certainly not your best work, and a shame the bright bit couldn't be cloned out, as I rather like the symmetrical look to the rest of the image :)

Hi Brrnd,

Tiny - I can't really add anything to the previous comments. Lovely looking model doggie.
Face - There is enough separation so it works and I think the B&W processing suits it.

Thank you all for your comments. I was shooting wide open at f/2.8, but using my micro 4/3 camera. 35mm equivalent would be 5.6 or so...

I think there's pretty good BG separation as in DOF but the BG is still a distraction. Furthermore, the BW conversion results in everything looking grey, not contrasty enough.

Thank you David!
