Yes
I have a Benro Mach 3 tripod which is supposed to convert to a monopod by unscrewing the leg with foam on. I can't figure out how to do this despite many tries. Is there a knack to it?

Thanks

the leg with the foam on should just twist off, then you take out the centre column and screw them together.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I have a Mach 3 TMA4xxx and the instructions say just what @quango2k has said.

Looking at the Benro website the TMA4 series DON'T have a detachable leg.

If it does that leg will have a BLUE RING as per the picture above.

I'm pretty p***ed of myself having just splashed £300 on the Benro TMA38CLwhich is also advertised both on the Benro site and on Wex as having a removable leg for monopod conversion. It doesn't.

Even the instructions tell you how to remove the leg, but it doesn't unscrew and there is no blue ring.

I always understood it was just the 2xx series such as TMA 28A

If seller description was wrong, can you not complain and send it back

Yes, that's not the problem. Just a pain having to do so.
It's not so much the seller that described it wrong. I'm sure the just took the information provided by the manufacturer.
I would expect the manufacturer to describe their products correctly though.

Update and good result. I emailed Benro about the fact that they advertise all of their Mach 3 products as having a removable leg for monopod conversion.

They've looked into it and come back to me saying that the website was inherited from their US company and they were not aware of the error. They've now fixed their site and have notified Wex of the error. Wex have also fixed their site.

Benro are sending me a carbon fibre monopod for making them aware of the issue.

Well done Benro.

Wish I'd done that - well done!
