Daily Bend The Light's 2013 365

She looks so cute, and as though she's really concentrating on what she's looking at - great lighting as well

Love "wait til you get home" shot! Love how dark it is.

Lovely shot of Annie too. Light is really nice in it :)

Ok, firstly apologies...I missed out 21 Jan. Except I did have one shot as i was testing some settings...so i processed it as an abstract. It is purely filler material and deserves no critique.

But today, I went to work with the express aim to capture the sun rising from my classroom window. But i also wanted to try the 7-shot HDR, as I have only been able to do 3-shots before. So here it is:

Craig , really like today shot the sky is awesome , superb composition across the rooftops

Cheers Vince. Yeah, I am quite happy with that one. Like how the foreground buildings (the school) are large, and then the mid-ground, then the sky. I like the kind of photos that come in layers. :)

Today's works well, there is only one thing I did notice, what has gone on round the sun? 'I'd have been tempted to warm the scene up a little as it's looking as cold as it probably was but still that's my personal preference

Great sky in this one, and it really feels like a cold winter morning.

:love::love::love: really like that craig

Thanks. Matt, I think we have double glazing problems, but i decided to leave it rather than edit it...thought it made things look a little "other worldly" and the HDR processing (7 shots) was deliberately done to NOT be realistic.
I had it colder than this to start with, and desaturated the blue out of the foreground...I very nearly left it blue. :)

I very much like the sunrise shot, HDR is not something I've experimented with. Must give it a go sometime.

The filler shot - well, we're all going to have them ;)

I say this in the nicest possible way, but she really looks good as a witch! Nice in mono as well. Only question is, is there a sort of strange line round the hat (the cone part)?

A bit of oversharpening, I think...:)

I think she is the best witch.

I love your HDR shot too. I'm not really a fan of HDR but those colours make it look post-apocalyptic!

Thanks Tim.

She is a good kid, and a good witch...most of the time!

And sometimes I think it IS post-apocalypse at the school where I work...

 Ruby makes a great Witch, though I didn't see here arrive of a broom stick at NMA, she sure worked her magic that and did a great job on her photo

I see what you mean on the HDR

Still here...:)

So, day 24 and 25...both "playing" shots...

day 24 "Elmo" - late entry to my 365, but playing with spot colour (I know...I know...!) and Topaz stuff:

Day 25..."It's snowing again" and threatening my day in the studio today! Grrrrr! 7-shot HDR again using one of my favourite presets as the starting point for processing:

Hoping for better photo opportunities today. :)

Elmo actually works for me  I'm really hoping that I can avoid colour popping through my 365 though

And day 25 is excellent. Hope you managed your studio day

I had to colour-pop Elmo...he was boddy popping as I took the photo, so it seemed right! :)

But no, seriously, it was a bit of filler. The car/snow was deliberate, though...see how 7-shot HDR works with falling snow and in the dark. :)

Elmo is great and looks very cool, even though every time I look at him my initial reaction (from a mere glance) is that he's smoking a cigar! :D I love the shadows his arms produce as well.

Day 25 takes what could be a somewhat mundane view and really works with it to produce a great photo - great technique/HDR on this.

Thanks. Yes, it does look like a cigar...he was actually rocking out to some Led Zepplin on the headphones at the time.

The car shot - yes, it was mundane, really, but I do like the processing I managed with it so it was worth it in that respect. :)
