OH, good. I am as far from a film camera expert as one can possibly be! I bought one of these cameras from a local car booty for a couple of quid mainly because I liked the look of it! But I wouldn't mind running some film through it, just for fun you understand. I have been inspecting it and there does not seem to be any scratches on the lens and the shutter seems to work OK but there a few things I'm not too sure about! For instance should there be some sort of foam seal between the metal and film? Also as it's manual focus and the view finder is so small, in fact it's totally separate from the lens how are you meant to focus? or is it just guess the distance and hope for the best! I think it's also a fixed aperture and fixed shutter speed of 1/50th how on earth do you control the exposure :shrug: is it all to do with which iso film you use?? or can you only shoot in certain conditions?? Sorry for all the questions but I really am a complete newb...;)
 
Well, for a start you cannot get film in the right size and you cannot squeeze a 35mm cassette in there either so you will have to roll your own in a changing bag or similar. Fast film was a luxury back then so you would need either a cloudy day and ISO400 or a brighter/sunny day and ISO125 film. Focusing is as you guessed - guessing the distance - but at f/8 it's not nearly so critical as you would think.

OH,,,,,I was under the impression it took 127 film and that it was still available. Or is it just that the case for said film does not fit in the body?? Is there anywhere that I can read up on winding the film manually or is it just blind fumbling in a bag.. also there does not seem to be any way of knowing how far you have wound the film on? or is it another case of just turn it twice sort of affair?

well, if it is a 127 roll film camera, there's Efke 127 B&W film at Silverprint. When you load the 127 film it has a paper backing, which has the frame numbers printed on it, so you turn the film drive knob until 1 shows up in the first little window in the back of the camera, take the shot, then wind until the 1 shows in the second window. Again, you shoot, then wind until 2 shows in the first window... Repeat until end of film.
 
What he said - I never looked into getting 127 film tbh, at the time I was more thinking about 35mm ... you will need an empty spool though which if you were lucky came with the camera?
 
I have one too and I may have some empty 127 spools kicking around let me know if you need one and i'll have a hunt around.
