North England Bempton cliff early morning?

If you go back to north landing , park up and go down the path in front of the cafe which takes you onto the right hand cliffs going towards flamborough , ignore the first stretch go across the green till you see 3 or 4 clefts cutting right back to the path about 1/4 mile walk .. start looking for the puffin nests in these clefts .. I was very successful there a few years ago

I was at Bempton last week. My first visit and will defo be going back, we loved it. We saw puffins, gannets, razorbills, gillimonts. We kept going back to our favourite little patch. From the visitor’s centre turn right, and follows the fence. Stop when the fence runs out.

Thanks for the tip. Will certainly go back, hopefully in a few weeks time if all else works out.

We did go this way, its a good spot.
I think Bempton has a lot of other species to look out for too behind the cliffs, like barn owls, chaffinches, tree sparrows etc etc.

I think you can find owls and kestrels in flamborough too. All in all both good places. I was limited by having my family around and an afternoon full of raining.
We setup base in Goole and while its not too far, with the kids still a chore to go back in the evening.
If I was on my own would have explored a lot more and waited around longer more for shots. Both places definitely deserves a photography centric trip or two :D

I’m not a bird tog really so was just shooting the easy big stuff in front of me :D We camped at Wold Farm so an easy walk to the cliffs, but still managed to clock up 8.5 miles a day. Defo doing a return trip.

Booked for a week in Bridlington , last week in June .let me know . Hoping to do some time at bempton and hopefully a trip on the Yorkshire bell as it’s doing bempton cruises on the thurs/fri/ sat . May also try the fishing boat trips from north landing . Think the gannets diving boats are either fully booked or out of my price range but you never know

A couple from Bempton
