Well I'm finally due to get my D300 back after its repair by Nikon (£350 for 'component failure' !!!!).

Having been without it for the best part of a month has really made me realise how many missed opportunities for pictures there are and also that I don't use if half as much as I should! So I'm determined to use this as motivation to really try to develop(no pun intended) my photography once I get the camera back.

So with that in mind I'd just be interested to know if anyone else has been cameraless for any length of time, and did it make you appreciate having a camera more?

Well I've now been without my camera for nearly a month and it's felt like torture. I've sold all my kit and whilst I will one day get it back am making do with my camera on the phone for now. It has made me recognise how little I appreciated my 5Dii when I had it.

Don't miss it till it's gone eh?

Last year I sold my 40D to help fund my wedding, and bought a second hand Powershot G10 to fill the void left. Didn't feel right, missed the immediacy of the DSLR shutter.

Just jumped ship to Nikon and feel much happier having a DSLR back in my life (and grubby mitts).

......Don't miss it till it's gone eh?

I agree with John here, you don't miss something til you can't use it !! I think this is the reason I've still got my 300D, when I upgraded it a couple of years ago - just in case senario...

Hope you get your body back soon...

I've kept my 20D for when my other cameras are out of action, for the amount I'd get for selling it, keeping it as a backup was the only real option.

Then when my 1D failed I used the 20D ended up getting the best shot I'd ever taken!
