LOL. A boy. My little girl is 8 and lovely - please don't tell me I've got more crap ahead of me :)

I feel your pain

I've 4 kids - boys aged 1 and 3 plus girls aged 6 and 14.

If the 14 year old is anything to go by - I've some interesting years ahead.

I suspect I may have started a busy thread :)

All of a sudden I don't feel alone!

They are horrible! Lol

My eldest boy is 18, he doesn't live here anymore as he didn't want to move to a small village but when he did.... Gheez it was hard work, pretty damn rough quite a lot of I'm honest.

Yet my daughter 15 is totally the opposite.. Happy laid back, a real good girl..
Youngest boy is nearly 7 and showing signs he'll be like is brother, God help me!

I feel your pain :D

hahahahahaha

5 sons, 2 daughters all grown up now... 6 of em close to perfect.. just the one girl let the side down.. really really hard work... got to love em all.. but seriously.. girls aaaargh!

however the good news is.. horrible daughter (kidding) now fully grown with her own daughter she realises what a complete pain in the backside she was and really appreciates her family more than most :)

My eldest son is 23 now, no problems, youngest son is 17 and no hassle there neither. What's the matter with you all?

Both of mine have flown the nest...... the girl was tough work as she is really head strong and independent......and the boy was equally tough.......both got into scrapes and hassles and both got bailed out but with a lesson learnt. I have always believed in a strong discipline ethic (not beating them to death for indiscretions) but they would have been punished accordingly.....i.e. loss of internet any other privileges.......it taught them respect for themselves and others....and we are really proud of them both.........but sheesh it was tough at times........

My little boys 4 weeks old today, have I got all this to look forward too?! He's enough trouble up in the early hours as it is already!

Yep - that's exactly how my lad started out ;)

I loved it when our kids grew up, started becoming reasoning beings. That's not to say it wasn't tough sometimes, but the teenage state was much better than the younger stages.

Ah yes the good old days, pre teens.
My hair was black not not grey, Thinking about it, I actually had some back then too :D

My eldest flew the nest a few back, the youngest followed suit,
then one day he turned up with rather a large "sack" over his shoulder,
just a like a returning sailor, and announced "I'm back"!

No, "Is it OK if I move back in" or "please dad"
nuffin. Not even a kiss my arse.

To be fair at mid 20's now, he's not a problem.

Conscious decision not to be a breeding pair - possibly why we're still very happy almost 30 years down the road! I know I was a royal PITA as a teen and really didn't want to be a hypocritical parent telling any kids not to do what I had done at their age.

But that's what the expression
"Don't do as I do, do as I say"
was invented for :D

Worse. Boys hide in the bedroom, grunt, play loud music and everything isn't fair, lasts about 2 years

Girls can't keep friends for long, everythings a drama, lots of angst, wants lots of money spent on them, goes on for nearly all teenage years. The only fun with girls is being menacing to the boyfriends.

Just 2 years. Is that guaranteed? :)

yeah generally over and done with. Girls go on for ever...

She's a late starter! I vividly remember a mate explaining "My daughter's reached 8 and she's just terrible all the time! PMT has kicked in!!" :D

Anyway it gets worse! As my father once explained to me, "When your son says 'Dad, I've got a problem!' and he's 32, you know it's going to be expensive!!"

Having parented both types, I can only agree with Simon Evans' stand-up routine "I have both a son and a daughter and I've discovered it doesn't matter which gender your child is ... they've both turned out to be a sad disappointment to me!!" :exit:

Son's 21 and daughter is 19.
Never had a problem with either of them. Both are helpful around the house when they come back from Uni. Both have part-time jobs between terms.
The biggest problem is feeding my son as he is a fitness fanatic - mixed martial arts, gym and running. He is studying sport science at Uni.
He normally goes through about 7000 calories a day. Body fat at under 5%...

Good thing you are on good terms with the boy!!!! :)

I do remember using the phrase "6 going on 16" with our daughter. By the time she was 14 she was miles better. The boy really improved once he started travelling & having to find his own way.
