Beginner at mounting needing some help!

Hello all, I need to get started on mounting my own images for sale (maninly to cut costs). I have a top end budget of £500 to get started.

I really need to get an idea of a shopping list before I crack on as I don't want to get started only to find out that I'm missing some vital piece of kit. So my shopping list looks like this so far:

- mount cutter (looking at Longridge Trio Plus - if this is OTT then an alternative suggestion would be great)
- masking tape
- spray glue
- scalpel
- mount board (10 sheets black A2)

Would this do it or am I missing something?

Hi Sam,

If you're thinking of using the masking tape to actually mount the prints then I'd switch it for mount tape - available from Hobbycraft and elsewhere. Masking tape isn't very reliable in the long term.

The Longridge cutter may be OTT. Personally I use a Logan which would save you quite a chunk of money and is perfectly adequate.

You will also need a cutting board. One of the plastic self-healing types are best.

Have a look here, I was looking myself earlier today with a view to getting some prints done of my best shots and mounting them for myself. Then I can change them as and when I want.
 
Also look at the "Lion " website, for ideas and supplies etc
 
Logan stuff is good never had a problem and yes always use crystal clear covers and it protects and they look great in them.
 
I use Britannia Mountboard, it is very good quality, but I buy direct from Britannia as it is half the price of this store, but I do buy £250 worth at a time.
