Guys
I am in the process of helping a good friend of mine up-date his web site
fenlandsrescue
George is a well respected re-habber of all things raptor, both nocturnal and diurnal.
We know the web site is dire and that is being corrected :bang:( so slate it if you want but that's not really what this thread is about)
The problem is the lack of decent images of NATIVE birds of prey
He has sent me a few and I have tided them up the best I can.
So heres the deal, as its a charity he is always skint :D any images used will be credited back to the owner and a linky put to your site.
I am only looking for small sizes ( ~250 x 250 Px) so there's no chance of you being ripped off

The web site has linkies all over the place on various other sites ( both .UK and .com) and fenlands rescue is occasionally featured in magazine articles both here and abroad.
So its fairly well represented.

As I type this I have had an idea! I could put up
A seperate gallery with BOP's images for sale. ( still NATIVE)
these images would have a link back to you (your site / email etc) to set your own prices.
I would also say something along the lines of
" these photographers have kindly agreed to donate a % of sales from this site to fenlands rescue"

Whether you did or not would be up to you of course as we would have no way of telling :D.

Your thoughts, Ladies, Gentlemen, boys and girls please
Cheers

Sorry I've got no BoP shots otherwise I'd be happy to help out, sounds like a great cause

If it ever expands to other wildlife, I'll gladly donate pics but the nearest I've got to BoP is a fierce looking starling :(

GAry

If I ever get a decent one i`ll certainly help out.

Are the buzzards any use in my gallery?....

I would imagine lots of folks here would be happy to stump up. If had an birdy pics I know I would.

Perhaps something a bit more telling in the thread title might get the right punters through the door. :)

Thanks guys I appriciate the thought.
Just native BOP's at this time I'm afraid

Whether George can be persuded at a later date to have a mixed gallery I don't know I will ask again if so

I admit to being "not very good" at PP, I still have the raw file if thats better, if its of use your welcometo it....

Cobra, I am more than happy for him to use the ones I have, however...just a question, the natives [barn owl, tawny, common buzzard and long eared owl which I think are native] were all taken at another charity organisations bird centre.... there was nothing in the T&C's about being limited on using the images you took commercially or otherwise IIRC, but on moral grounds...

anyway, if you think it would be ok, have a look HERE for some examples, and I have plenty more to chose from if it helps. Sorry I havent got more of anything much other than owls though, well not natives anyway.

Cheers LL there are some pretty stunning owl shots there :thumbs:I will have a better look later.
As this is for a charity I don't think that the "sites" that the pictures were taken at would have a problem, I think that they would also have a tough time proving where they were actually taken in the first place, if you should happen to get a sale or two

i have a couple of red kites from wales mate if they are any good to you i will dig them out for ya..

md:thumbs:

I have a couple of portraits from captive birds, they were involved in the great hard drive crash of Christmas 2007 though and not sure if they were ever recaptured so will have a look, if they are suitable for your mate then happy days, perhaps a Talk Photography day at his place would be in order :)

Cheers I would appriciate that.

Not sure about the "day out" though.
Injured birds are very stressed anything like that could push them over the edge as it were. but when "fitness training" & "release" time comes around then I could suggest it for one or two at a time

but he was born in Essex ...

:D
Harris' Hawks have only been bred in captivity since about 1970.
A South American species. Known as "boomerang birds" as they are damned near impossible to loose.
However and there is always a however :D
loads do get lost and are ( reputedly) breeding in small pockets around the country

phew must sort out my filing system ..

only justy found my kite shots...

if this is any good mate your welcome...

:lol::lol::lol:
trust you :D

:lol::lol:

Quick question - would a BoP in a suburban area create more 'featherage' than say a fox? Probably not, but that pic looks like what I woke upto on the back lawn a few weeks ago, minus the bird of course.... and the corpse

Possibly yes
A fox generally grabs and runs a spar for example will stuggle a little to subdue something that size, and some feather spilling will occur don't forget cats of course they make a bit of a mess too

b****r, can't find them on the HD but still have them hosted !

Cheers dseered I think the middle one is possibley a Goldie
Top is Lanner or saker ( neither native)
The bottom looks like a white Gyr ( or Gyr hybrid) non native

Yes, white one is a hybrid, something to do with arabs and deserts, middle one is used as a seagull detterent at Haverigg open prison in Cumbria, had been sprayed down, hence wet feathers !

 my initial reaction was 'cat', until about a week later when a neighbour commented that they had seen very briefly what looked like some kind of hawk in their garden the day before. They dont have a bird feeder or anything, and without wanting to insult, I do know birds are not their strongest point. So, even loosely assuming they might have seen a sparrow hawk or similar, I am still sceptical, but it was only a day or two later when I saw the first of the fledging wood pigeons, so I suppose not beyond the realms of possibility, but I am still leaning towards a big black feline from next door....errr....somewhere in the vicintiy :whistling: ;)

Gyr ( x) it is then a favourite of the Arabs they will pay in excess of £10,000 for a pure white one
they hunt Houbara ( a dessert species and similar to a Bustard) with them

I am a bit confused now the middle one looks like a Goldie but no one
( in their right minds) uses them for bird clearance its more likly to be a Harris' but its a bit pale

You're more than welcome to use any of mine Chris, LINKY. The quality is poor on some so you might want to ignore those ones  But use whatever you like. It's a charity after all ;)

Thank you Jo  you have a PM

He can have my Owl as well, all for a good cause, no need to link it to my website because it's crap - Don't mind it being credited to me though

Cheers Yoby  anything used will always be credited and a linky of your choice ( if you have one) for now though I can't see a picture

Chris

There are a few on my website (www.beastall.com) including kites from last weekend. Happy for anything to be used. Also, I'm reasonably local so could pop along and take some pics of his birds if it helps

Thank you for your generousity Paul
There are some really nice kites on there.

Thanks for the kind offer to take a few more as well, but he hardly has any natives at all at the moment, apart from sick ones that is ( which he doesn't do anything with at all, inc. take pictures of, until they are on the point of release or fully rehabbed as "wild disabled" if you see what I mean?)

Anything I use I will obviously link back to your site
And I will let you know when its done so you can check up on me :D
