Right, I've joined this new-fangled "Facebook" the kids are all talking about. I'm on there with a personal page set up as an individual (though I never use it) and I have no problems. I can post on other people's pages no problem. So that's good.

However. I also set up a page as (I think) an organisation as Apex Photography but it seems to be a different thing to my personal page. I've got photos on there https://www.facebook.com/pages/Apex-Photography/534790439886581 but I can't seem to post on anyone's page. When I do so, I can see the post but my little avatar thingy doesn't appear (just a head-and-shoulders silhouette) and a while later my post seems to vanish and nobody seems to see it.

Any ideas? There is very little in the way of options under Settings, it's quite different to my personal page. There are all different types of pages to set up as, what should a photography enthusiast/semi-pro use if they don't have an actual company?

top right, click the little cog.. "use facebook as"

I don't even have that cogwheel on my Apex Photography page, though I do on my personal page. I think I'll just scrub them both and start again.

That's the one you need to click on

Oh, right. Ok, logged in on my personal page I click the cogwheel and I get:

Create an advert
Account settings
Privacy settings
Log out
Help

looked in these - especially account and privacy settings - still can't see what I need?

You created the page when logged in as your personal account?

Created the photography page while logged in as my personal page do you mean? I may have, not sure. I think I'll have to start again.

I would advise against 'starting again' unless it is a last resort. Nothing is simple on Facebook and you can't just delete what you have done and start over.

I have had a look at your Apex Photography page and that does seem to display correctly.

Bear in mind that personal profiles are different to pages which you create. They look and act differently and you have different functionality on each. By default you will be using your personal profile when you post, unless you explicitly change to using Facebook as your page.

Here is a screenshot showing where you can swap between your personal profile and your pages. It is the cogwheel previously alluded too. You can switch profiles regardless of what page you are actually on.

Thanks, but when I log in as my personal page and click the cogwheel I just get the options I said above. under Account Settings (name, username, email, password, networks, language) and Privacy Settings (who can see my stuff? and who can look me up?) there is nothing that lets me swap between pages. I set them up with different e-mail addresses, maybe that affects it.

If I log in as Apex Photography I don't even get the cogwheel. I tried to "like" your page back and I don't get the option, can't do anything at all.

Bah.

Ah ha, there is part of the problem. You used different email addresses. Facebook can't cope with that sort of thing. You can only swap between pages created using the same account.

I believe only individuals can like a page. Entities can't.

'Pages' can like other pages [ I just liked the OP's page while posting as my own business page], what you can't do is post in groups as a 'page', that has to be as your personal profile. ;)

I stand suitably corrected :)

So if I log into my personal page I can set up another page for my photography using the same email address? That makes sense, there are models I photograph who have a personal page and then a page for them as a model.
