No
It's a Contax 139 quartz with four lenses. I have't a clue how much it's all worth.
The lenses are pretty clean, no signs of dust inside or fungus. Just wondered if anyone could give a rough idea if it's worth a punt or not.
Thanks in advance.

The camera body is worth in the open market around £20 to £30, if condition is very good indeed maybe £40.

The two ML lenses are good, but do not demand a lot of money, between £15 and £20. The same for the Tamron, maybe a bit more.

The jewel in the package is the Carl Zeiss Planer f1.7 50mm which does sell for in excess of £150 is a stunning lens and well worth the money.

I hope this helps you in some way.

Excellent camera and the Zeiss and Yashica lenses are also top quality. The Tamron isn't half bad either.
Price wise the camera about £30-40 depending on condition. The Carl Zeiss about £100, the Yash 28mm between £50-60 and the Tamron about £10-20 and the Yash 135mm about £60-70.
Bloody good bit of kit to be honest.

Andy

I see I was beaten to it by Richard. we're close in total but with a slightly different balance. I think maybe I am a little over with the Yashicas but not by much and on a good day they could definitely reach my estimation.

The seals on the body look like they need replacing before I try a roll in her.

Thanks Richard, most helpful

The Yashica ML 28mm is sought after by some and should be an easy sell.

The Camera would look fantastic with a nice new leather jacket, try red, sexy.

Cheers Andy, like I said to Richard I'll replace the seals then try her out.
The guy seemed to think it was all worth around £300, might make a cheeky offer of £200 me thinks.

Hi Andy,

My price for the ML and Tamron are based on the Contax/Yashica Mount, if they were indeed other types or more popular mounts then the estimates would indeed be different.
As I said before even in Contax/yashica fit the Carl zeiss is just stunning and I wish I had an oppertunity to nick this kit.:D:thumbs:

I have a Contax 139 Quartz that suffered from the same deterioration of the leatherette and replaced it with a basic pre-cut vinyl from these people http://www.cameraleather.com/contax_yashica/ I could have used the original style but was going to just sell it on so didn't bother but I wish I had, although it looks good it lacks something.

I also did a Yashica FX3 that sported the same soft vinyl covering as the Contax and covered that in the same basic version., here's the before and after shots.

And ging back to your original post the T* 50mm lens is a real cracker, I wish I had one for my Contax.

Cheers Nick, I'll have a click on your link in a sec.
That spruces it up rather well
Looking forward to using the Zeiss :)

Do you just stick the new cover over the top of the old one?

No you should remove the old cover first but its generally not that difficult to do. Camera Leather covers are superb, they;re cut perfectly and are pretty foolproof to apply and they have a how to section on their website as well. I intend to do my TLR's soon.

As Andy says you just remove the old cover first and is simple, they are a doddle to fit even for a technical numpty like me. I'd also suggest you replace the light seals at the same time.

Nick. Thanks for the info. Will now look at S/H cameras with renewed interest.

Cheers Andy. I like the look of the red snake skin ;)

That's good to know, I'm a technical numpty too :D

Result.. I offered £100 and he took it. I'm the new proud owner :D

You jammy beggar, thats a nearly theft its that cheap.

Andy

I can vouch for that zeiss 50mm, used to have one on my contax, was a jeffing good lens. Fringed a bit wide open but sharper than a sharp thing

Enjoy it you thieving git :p

 I put a roll of Superia in her last night just to see if it is leaking, but my brother (TrevorBray) on here had a show jumping event to cover today and I was his printing assistant, so not had time to fire it off yet. Hoping the weather might clear up a bit this evening for a stroll  Can't wait to see how sharp the 50mm is now :D
