Holy thread revival 19 Feb 14 - see below!
I have saved some old Olympus gear from going to the tip (!) as I suspected they would be worth something to someone but having given them an inspection, I am actually not sure what to do with them.
Extensive list:
Olympus OM1 - edges dirty, got shutter to release
Olympus OM1 MD - edges dirty, film cover doesn't lock, haven't managed to get shutter to release
Olympus OM2n MD - looks clean through viewfinder, got shutter to release
(above probably need some mirror/sensor though)
F Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 Auto S (fungus)
Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 Auto S - few dust specs
Vivitar 35-70mm f/2.8-3.8 - clean
G Zuiko 28mm f/3.5 (Auto W) - clean
Tamron 85-210mm f/4.5 macro adaptall 2 - clean
Vivitar 530FD flashgun
Hoya skylight filters to all lenses above
49mm polarising filter
49mm red filter
+ various old school cases, pouches etc
Sadly there is some fungus but I need to check how much and in which lens/body.
Also, I am not educated in film cameras so a bit at a loss on how to check that they are mechanically sound (which I was told they were). Is it really a question of reading the instructions, popping some film in and giving them a go? I have since read that OM cameras are rather classic and I've probably done well to save them from the tip at least!
I am very tempted to try a few, if not all of those lenses with my D90 and D40, especially the 28mm, the 35-70mm and the 85-210mm. That's a very good zoom range! I am pretty sure they can be combined as I've seen a few lovely photos on Flickr taken with Nikon DSLRs and the 35-70 at least. Anyone know what adapter I'd need?
As much as I'd like getting to grips with them over time, I'm not sure I've got enough spare time, so may well end up flogging all or most of it.
Any pointers much appreciated.
