Hi all

I have been asked to do a wedding for a friends sister but they have asked for a 'Signature photo for at the reception'

I've got a vague idea of what this is but not 100% sure to be honest

Does anyone know for certain what this is?

Could really do with knowing

Thanks
Paul

well I will be asking them what they want from the Signiature photo

I am just wanting to know what the Signiature photo is and what role it takes in the wedding etc

I had one done at my wedding it was me and the wife signing the registry... sorry couldn't resist.

ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh

silly me haha

now I know what it is

I feel soooooooooooooo stupid now!!!!!!!!!!

anyways

i'm gonna quiety sneak off now haha

errr.................................if shes asking for this for at the reception I think you need to re think it being the register shot. You need to check - but I reckon shes refering to haing a shoot previously and the print mounted and left at the reception for the guests to sign,

best check with her

Hugh

That's what I would assume she meant too.

I assume you have a better camera than your D80 to shoot the wedding. I was at a wedding on Friday with a D80 and although I got a few shots I was reasonably happy with, there is no way I'd consider it any where near good enough to have been the main shooter at a wedding. Unless of course the wedding is held entirely in perfect constant lighting conditions. In that case you'll be fine.

don't think his camera will be too much of a problem, 20 years ago people shot a wedding with nothing more than an om2 and a couple of roles of film without issue.

You could be right. I was once at a wedding where they had disposable cameras on each table. Anything more than that is just over the top.

You could always just get people to sign a frame that you can then put a photo from the day into after...!

not so sure about that - you're asking people at a reception to sign an empty picture frame, they'll be wondering what they're signing and what its for?

yeah, they're are a put problems with that one

Maybe not so much sign it than write their congratulations along with their name than so much a signiature

how dim ARE people? You could put a note where the pic should be saying 'picture of b+g to be inserted here, please write a few words of congratulations' or whatever

dim/drunk or whatever - I just think it'll work with a picture there and won't if its not

So you tell them - I'd have thought that a piece of paper the same size as the final photo size in the space where the photo goes asking them to sign the mount would help clear any confusion.

Seen it done a couple of times in place of a guest book and works very well, although not used it myself. I suspect this is what the B&G want.

I think there would be a number of issues to iron out:
1) the size of the mount needs to be big enough to get everyone's signature and message but not too big to make it appear that the B&G have few friends by having too much space.
2) making sure that one of the bridal party is responsible for picking it up after the even, I'd imaging you'll have long gone by the time the do ends. The B&G are probably best placed for dishing this job out.

It works with or without a picture there, sometimes we do this with an image from a previous meet with the B&G,sometimes the B&G wish to choose thier favourite of the day and have an empty frame and mount to be signed.Works both ways.......

End of it all mate,it is what the B&G wants that matters,we have done both with equal success.

Give them the option and then it is up to them.

yeah, definately worth offering

something i'd never really thought of but is a great idea!

and is actually good as gets the guest interacting more!

May also be worth making sure there is a pencil (not pen) or 2 attached to the frame or stand so that if its signed by someone a little merry who thinks its funny to wtire something a bit rude it can be rubbed out, and a lot of ink fades so if its hung the signatures would fade with time whereas pencil does not.
