Just thought I'd let you all know that I became a student again last week. Well, I decided to sign myself up for a night course at a local college - I've always been into my cars, and recently bought a Caterham R400. Thing is, I have no idea how the damned thing works - always concentrated on the driving part, you see.

OK, so why is the relevant - well, those wonderful peeps at Abode recognise not only the college, but also my new student card, as proof of eligibility for their student and teacher discount series.

So, today, I placed an order for CS5 Design Essentials and Lightroom 3 - and just got an email back saying all was OK - my software should be here in about a week.

Bingo! So, if you have any interests outside the camera, then sign up for a low cost night course, and grab yourself a bargain!

Cheers Bradders.

I've always been into my cars, and since my cars are Hillman Imps or used Imp mechanicals I've had to know how they work and how to fix them, because they break down a lot :naughty:

I start University in September, so I have 3/4 years of good discounts!

Its all good as long as you don't use the software for financial gain. Another way to get a good discount on adobe products is to buy an old copy of the program you want with official licence and then get the upgrade.

I'm pretty sure that the student package can now be used for commercial use and is also upgradeable so you aren't stuck buying the full package once you're no longer a student.

The saving first - Design Premium full price is £1725, and Lightroom 3 is £226. Buying both together under student and teacher discounts came to £397. One heck of a saving.

The course is at the Skills Exchange in Castleford, near the Xscape. Runs 1 night per week, for 30 weeks. It's titled ABC DIY Car maintenance. It covers braking and cooling systems, oil flow and strip and rebuild. Not sure if it would be of any use, to be honest, sit sounds like you are much more knowledgable than I currently am!! The course costs £300. They do others - not sure if they are night classes though. Skills Exchange is art of Wakefield College, hence the student card and discount with Adobe.

Cheers, Mark

may take a look into that anyhow :D thank you for the info.

I have been on several courses and i am still crap:) i personally blame the tutors:p

I did GCSE Photography at night school which also qualified for the discount according to fellow students. I have since gone down the OCA route which qualifies as well. Just my luck I bought CS4 three months before they launched CS5!

Well, I'll be - the software arrived today - not a bad turnaround at all!
