Nice take on the theme. Love the contrast between the brass (?) and the black BG. Only crit would be the fade out of the chain in the bottom left corner, but a lovely image otherwise. (y)

Yes it is brass. The fade out is deliberate as the chain is badly discoloured and I couldn't quite get it right in PP to clean it up :banghead:

Sense - looks very inviting in this weather. A different take on the theme.

Ending - nice composition with the gold on the black. Didn't notice the ring at the top and doesn't bother me any way. Good shot.

Good image Michael (y) I wouldn't have noticed the ring either. If anything, for me, the crop seems a bit tight :)

Couldn't do a bigger crop as the clock is in a glass framed box and the chain is right at the edge of the frame
 
Nice image. Looks like you've done well given that it is in a frame. For me, as said above, more light was needed on parts of the chain. Other than that it certainly looks sharp where it needs to be

Hi Michael, not sure if I’ve popped in here before now?

Mineral, nice butterfly effect, the edges on the shells look a little odd, and there’s some ghosting or something down the LHS. But lovely vibrant colours.

Sense, works for me, I think you’ve given enough self crit here. Certainly a nice warn glow and the fire isn’t over exposed.

Ending, loving your OCD! I think this shot is excellent, nicely lit and it doesn’t offend my OCD!

Sense......like that a lot , real warm glow from the fire ,well handled exposure on the flames , hand position works for me ( sharpness has been mentioned )......very homely feeling (y)

Ending....another great shot...plenty of detail , no nasty hotspots & nicely arranged (y) minor crit would be slightly more even lighting on the very top & bottom of the chain

There not shells as shells technically aren't minerals. It is actually 1 slice of mineral stone balanced on a mirror. I'm not sure whats caused the ghosting but that side is the reflected side so maybe that's something to do with it :thinking:

Thank you Lynne. I gave a little vignetting as the chain is badly tarnished and didn't look too good. I did try a clean up in PP but I still need more work in that area.
 
Now that's dedication to the cause :)

It has a real graphic novel feel to it, well composed and the drops are pin sharp. Cracking and clean BG.

Set the camera up on tripod and pre focused where I planned on squirting the 'blood' then switched focus to manual. Squirted the syringe and used remote trigger.
Took a few attempts.... ok ok more than a few. A bit of PP to adjust levels etc
Oh yeah and spent awhile clearing up after :)
