Nice story. You only have to look at the film groups on Flickr to see that this isn't just a revolution by older photographers, full of nostalgia for film. An awful lot of youngsters are also taking the plunge. Film will never rival digital, but neither is it going away. I'm pretty sure that I've seen Ilford ascribe part of the phenomena to the photography colleges that still introduce students to dark room techniques. Then there is the Lomo and Chinese toy camera contribution. Polaroids and Fujifilm instants are still considered cool. I think that some of the younger fans of film photography might be attracted by a hipster, arty association, but they are also rebelling against digital sharp perfection.

Excellent, I follow Patrick on Flickr and he does have a real talent in my opinion. His work is very distinctive and interesting.
 
Just been reading this article. Was the Film Photography Day on 11 April a "proper" event like the Pinhole Photography Day, since I don't recall hearing or reading about it? :thinking:
