No I don't know that name but I do know the name Basil Spence (I met him once). I'd say that architects as a breed aren't known for sensitivity (I can hear them howl at this), but rather tend to be control freaks. And Trawfynydd nuclear power station was a controlled dump (less by him than by the agencies who commissioned him), in a marvellous (if already humanly-modified) natural landscape that was seen as being, in various terms, of low value. The power station was a significant local employer in its day, as was slate mining previously at Blaenau Ffestiniog not far away - but slate waste isn't toxic.
