I was wondering if anyone here is into this sci-fi series? I was never keen on it, but loving most sci-fi I had this given to me as a gift and have just finished watching the whole 4 seasons.

But, I have a few questions which seems to have slipped by me while I dozed off.

Before I ask ... I don't want to spoil this for anyone who is keen to watch it and has yet to do so ...

So ...

SPOILER WARNING .. DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET TO KNOW

- Was Starbuck confirmed as Cylon?
- Why did the nasty Cylon (can't recall his name, but he was the male figure who opposed a treaty with humans) shoot himself, knowing he would not be resurrected?

Thanks :)

Good series, I hardly ever watch TV but its pretty good (especially first two series)

Answer to the first question is, No. Not a cylon.

No sure on the 2nd one!

Yes, the first couple of series were fine but then it turned into a political drama rather than a space shooting / action series; but still good to watch.

I was very saddened by the ending of it ... I don't know why :'(

Great to know that she's not; but then that begs the next question .. who did she burn on the 1st Earth ?

She is dead. The Starbuck in Series 4 is a ghost / spirit, that was her body.

Couldn't agree more, my wife bought them for me as soon as each series was released. After the 2nd series they kind of lost me a little.

Aha, that explains her sudden disappearance at the end!

I think I need to watch them all over again, to try to link the missing bits ... got a bit too confusing for my I.Q. (which is usually floating around room temperature :p).

Ditto. All this "they have a plan stuff" - not sure what it was, and it seemed to be quietly dropped.

Don't really think the ending was that satisfactory and had a "make it up as you go along" feel in the final stretch.

Yes, I initially loved the idea of Cylons believing in a one God and having a plan. I waited in anticipation to see what that plan was to be and how they'd bring in the one God vs. the many in which the humans believed. It was disappointing to see all that dropped ... especially when they continued to use spirituality until the very end.

Still, was well worth the marathon watch ... took me just about 2 weeks to watch all 4 seasons :p

Now that would be interesting to watch :)

It was good, but don't waste your time on that DVD "The Plan", frakkin' terrible!

I think, on a subconscious level, I like the series for the sexy female Cylons :p

Is this the one that was on 20 years ago

I love scifi but I couldn't really get on with this series.
I bought the first series but sold it (which is most unusual for me).

Have just started on Stargate Atlantis, but taking a break as a friend has loaned us Boston Legal S1 so we thought we'd better watch that first.

Boston Legal, that's with the obnoxious Captain J. T. Kirk? It's one of the funniest drama series I've watched and enjoyed, along with Desperate House Wives (everyone on that series has a criminal history, what a neighbourhood ).

Stargate, I just couldn't digest that. It's just not for me .... what I would like to get is all the Star Trek series, I don't know them all but I wouldn't mind that.

As for Battlestar, I have mixed feelings about it. I like some parts and dislike others .. but overall, it was a good watch.

Personally, i loved it! once i got over the hang-ups of the changes from the original which i grew up with, might i add.

ive got them all, including the spin off tv movies, this is the only series ive ever collected on box sets.

yes starbuck is a ghost/spirit/angel by the last episode and the cylon model played by dean stockwell shot himself because he knew they had lost and knew that he would be airlocked, shooting himself was quicker and less painfull.

[loser mode: off]

Another question, which bugged me from the start .....

In the beginning, on Caprica, when the Cylons nuked the planet. Guyes (sp.) and his gf (Cylon Hot Amazon Blond) were standing by a glass door. She asked him to duck as the nuclear wind was about to rip their house! She was subsequently resurrected (hence, she died) yet he survived  .. how could he survive the nuclear wind?

The only series of Star Trek that gets close to what Battlestar Gallatica is trying to do is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Thats excellent. I'd skip the rest.

Also worth trying Babylon 5. Series 1 is awful, but series 2 and 3 are really excellent.

I really enjoyed series 1 and 2 of BSG and parts of 3 (namely the occupation) but felt it all went a bit down hill after all that.

Another vote for startrek DS9.... best trek series and another vote for Babylon 5 a great series once it kicks into gear its the series all other scifi shows want to emulate.

But he knew that a truce would have been possible had he just laid down his arms .... Adama had offered a new truce .

Yes, he did for a moment suspect that there was a deception going on, but since he was happy to die, then why not see how far that truce offer would hold out for? Worst that would happen is that he'd die, which he did to himself anyway

In what way is DSN trying to do what BSG did? If you don't mind me asking. I haven't watched any of the Star Trek series, other than the original ones from the 1960s!

Well DS9 and BSG both have long running story arcs, and generally the series has a beginning middle and end.

Star Trek generally (apart from DS9) is just a 40 minute self-contained story, and at the end of each week, everything is "reset" - there are no consequences from previous episodes, and no underlying story arc.

I guess I'll order it .... need something to keep me busy.
