I normally use two BP-511A batteries in my grip, but being bored today and letting my little mind wander, I wondered would I be better using AA's.

My Thinking is
BP-511A 1500mAh X 2 = 3000mAh
AA 2700mAH X 6 = 16000mAH

So will I get 5 times as many shots with AA ??

Mark,

Alas, no. There's an omission in your formula here and you'll get about 55% of the shots from your AA's versus 2 x BP511's

The BP511 is 7.4v so it takes the 6 AA's to provide the same voltage.

2 x BP511 at 1500mAh = 3000mAh at 7.4v nominal
6 x AA at 1600mAh = 1600mAh at 7.2v nominal

It's a good standby though.

EDIT: Oops, didnt read the post properly.

AH! I knew there would be a reason to use the BP511's , luckily I got 2 for a tenner at 7dayshop. :)

Thanks Bob
