I there

I've just got my first battery grip which isn't a canon but one designed for use on my 40d, however when left switched off for two days it drained both my batteries, I don't think this is right but having never had one I don't know if this is usual.

Can someone who owns one let me know if this is the norm please, before I send it back...

Often leave the battery grip on over night on my 5DMkII and don't notice any battery drain on the single battery that's inside.

I leave the battery grip on mr 500d all the time for weeks at s time and never experience a drain . Sounds like a faulty one to me....

I have the genuine Canon grip on my 7D and hardly ever remove it. The battery drain is minimal.

If you are flattening two batteries in two days you DO have a problem.

I have Meike grips on my 7D and 5D2 and have no problems with the batteries draining. I have 6 3rd party batteries which came with the grips and they work just as well as my 2 genuine Canon. Mine both stay on all the time and really are great. For the price, £55 inc 2 batteries for the 5D2 and £45 inc 4 batteries for the 7D, you can't go wrong really.

I have a 3rd party grip for my 50d but only have one battery in it, and i dont notice any drain. you may have a faulty one

Thanks for the posts chaps, I agree it's a duff, hence it's going back to them....
