Battery Grip, wise idea?

I am thinking of buying a cheap battery grip for my D70s, reson being i always forget to chrage my one kit battery the night before i leave for a shoot so my battery tends to run out quickly, any tips or recommendations?

With the second one because of the cable will i not be able to simultaniously use a cable release?

I bought a third part Opteka one and it has been outstanding.

If you forget to charge one battery I guarantee you'll forget to charge two.......

then you'll feel twice as daft



I've got one but as it adds 400g to the weight of the camera I only use it if I'm going to be doing a lot of portrait shots

I'm not a fan of the imitation grips but some find them suitable. Can I just ask though, if it's only because you have a single battery you forget to charge, we not just buy a couple extra batteries so you have 2 charged spares in the bag at all times? :shrug:

PS: I love my Canon grip, would never be without it now.

If you forget to charge a battery the night before then its odds on you will forget to charge 2. I had a grip for my old D70s Nikon and I didn't feel it was really worth it. Of course it depends on your photographic work.

As you ask I would suggest the money better spent in buying another battery.

Less kit to carry, less bits to leave and lose, it means i dont have to keep swopping batterys and it just makes it easier. Im also attracted by the Time Lag, Shutter Time, Shooting Number Setting ammentities.

Batery grips are a must to be honest, 2 batterys plus the extra shooting options make it so!

The battery grip for the Nikon D70s doesn't give any more options, apart from not having to change batteries when one runs out. Or at least the grip I bought didn't, but it was a third party grip not Nikon.

i will follow the the gang and say there are a MUST , i was lucky to buy my latest camera with a grip and would say that i WONT remove it

Keep an eye out for the Hahnel grip for the D70, they used to retail around £50-60, but I picked up one of a seller on Ebay that had loads of them (can't remember his name though :bonk for £17 delivered including two batteries....
