Early this year I bought a Hahnel HLX-E6 battery for my Canon. I've found it very good in terms life, so no complaints. However, for various reasons, it's been a week or so since I last used my camera. As we're off on holiday tomorrow I decided to charge my batteries. It was then I noticed that the end of the battery (the opposite end to the terminals) was sticky. Further investigation revealed that the case is cracked. I'm a bit concerned as the battery has been looked after and never dropped, etc. I can't believe that a crack has spontaneously appeared, but I cannot think how it has happened. Any thoughts?

No idea but I would bin it unless it's still under warranty

It's already in the bin (metaphorically speaking), but not before I had a closer look. I've now discovered that there is another crack propagating on the main casing.

You pays your money.................

Well, it's not as if it grossly less expensive than a Canon. 50 quid as opposed to 65. But you are correct it's the first (and last) third party battery I've ever bought.

I was just about to buy one of these - thanks for sharing! Staying with OEM batteries now.

Wise move. I'm away early tomorrow, but I've managed to find a Canon one at my local camera shop, so will be picking it up later. I'm only glad it didn't have chance to leak into the battery compartment.
