I need 3 batteries for my new 7D, obviously if I buy genuine Canon this is going to be very costly! So can anyone recommend any 3rd party ones that charge on the Canon charger and are recognised in the camera?

Ta muchly :)

Got some cheap ones off of amazon, £11 a pop.

They seem to almost be matching the Canon, they aren't giving me any noticeably different in shots per cycle. However I guess the life on them might be a bit less, but after 4 months with the cheap ones I'm not noticing anything yet.

They register with the camera, and the grip, giving the % readouts.

I've just got one from amazon and will be ordering another.

I bought a 3rd party grip off ebay for my 7D and it came with 4 3rd party batteries and cost around £70 IIRC. The batteries were giving at least as many shots as the original, charge perfectly in 2 Canon chargers and display correctly in the camera, with grip on or off. I've used the same batteries in a 5D2 and now in a 5D3 and they work flawlessly. Just got to wait until someone comes out with a 3rd party grip for the 5D3 now. Here's a link to a similar grip and battery combo that I bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battery-G...42?pt=UK_Camera_Batteries&hash=item27b83f0c72

If you spent that much on a camera surely you want to put batteries in which the manufacture supports.

I would look on digital rev for official batteries.
