The Eneloops are still a very good choice, but it's not as clear cut as it was when they first came on the market. My only other experience with low discharge batteries is with the Uniross Hybrios which most of us used in South Africa for a while, because Eneloops only reached us much later than Europe. I bought my first set when I was visiting the UK, but the Hybrios were fine and cheaper. The analysis Dave linked to above will give you plenty of reading too!
