Batis Focus Delay

My new Batis 85 1.8 takes a couple of seconds to focus. Why is that?

which camera body? under what conditions - lighting, aperture settings, etc?

2sec does seem an awful lot...

I agree, the Batis 85mm f1.8 should focus quicker than the 85mm f1.4 G Master and Fuji 56mm f1.2 as I have owned these lenses.
As mentioned, what body are you using? Low light?

Go outside in good daylight and get the lens to focus on something nice and contrasty like a car number plate. Then take two steps backwards and get it to re-focus. Does it take 2 seconds to re-focus? If so, there's probably something wrong with the camera or the lens. If not, we've established that it doesn't *always* take 2 seconds, so now you need to start giving us some details about the conditions in which it *does* take 2 seconds.
