White and Magnolia are to-days fashion but what happened to the colours of the eighties. Mine is Alpine Blue and I need a new basin and cannot get a replacement. There used to be Avacado and Rose, all sorts. I've seen other colours in people's bathroom ( not that I go in other people's bathrooms, more of a peep to see what the colour is )
 
White is the only way to go.
The odd colour tastes of the last century are (thankfully) long gone.

Some are not good but like Alpine Blue, with my decoration its ideal.
 
My last house had an Avocado suite, never changed it, can't say it bothered me though.

Had to put a new suite in my current house so went for white, no reason other than it was cheapest and in stock.

Same with cars, if it's the right price and in good nick colour is pretty much irrelevant, only going to get chipped, dented and dirty anyway

Try your local tip, Shirley. Plumbers sometimes take suites out without damaging them.

I agree. (y) BUT, how long before one of those tv progs (in cahoots with a maverick manufacturer :rolleyes: ) decides they're the latest fashion again. (n)
 
White looks nice and clean I think. When my Mum and Dad moved in to their last house the bathroom was 'rust brown' - I'll be honest, it wasn't good! :eek:
 
I bet they were glad to get rid of that, white is nice and clean looking.
 
Sorry didn't do that properly as on my phone....they should be able to get what you want.
 
^ I've used them in the past. Not exactly cheap, but cheaper than replacing everything.

The trouble is, when you come to sell your property the colour will detract from the price, as buyers will want to rip it out and replace with a white suite.
 
If you are going new then white is the only option.... it really is

Thank you so much Alpine Blue is there, I've been searching for it over 15 years and never gave up. The washbasin on the open page is the same as mine, the colours hasn't faded at all. My Dad had a sit in bath seat and the corner of it put a little hole on the side. I used a harden gel stuff from a plumber and put a dab of paint on it the same colour as the bath. Thanks again.
 
Mine is magnolia with slightly brighter white in both the bathrooms; I would again push for these colors, neutral and go well with a range of furniture
 
My en-suite is light grey and I like it. However it needs a refurb and I guess it will be white.

The bathroom is avocado, or something close to that. About 10 years ago the toilet bowl was cracked. Local plumber said you couldn't replace off the shelf but he was able to source one from a supplier who took a deglazed white toilet bowl, coloured it to match and glazed it. It was pricey but not as much as a complete replacement.
 
We've only been able to afford white until fairly recently. There was a bathroom shop in Croydon that was selling off a huge blue metalflake corner bath in the early 80s, and at that time I really liked the idea of a corner bath. It was just a little too expensive still (thank goodness) and we've always had white. :)

I've always thought of white as "Retro" TBH. We all of a certain age remember the white enamel baths I'm sure.

Very true, flats I grew up in were built in the thirties, White bath and copious amounts of Black and White tiling around it.

At our house too. My grandfather was a painter & decorator, and used to re-enamel baths.

Remember that programme called the Coal House, they were pretening to be in the year 1927 and the husband walked miles to the quarry, they used to bath in front of the fire.

Also those sinks that weigh a ton, I think they are called Belfast sinks. I have a few scattered around my fields, I used to put feeding blocks in them. Once I put one in a wheelbarrow put the block in it and then a bale of hay, couldn't even lift the barrow off the ground, had to do three trips instead of one, those were the days.
 
Wish I had a bathroom ,mid way through a complete re.furb all walls re-lined and plastered ,old pipe work ripped out and the bloody plumbers gone awol no ones seen him since Friday grrrrrrrr

You're too far from me or I'd lend a hand.

The trouble with plumbers is you can't throw them far enough.

I've just finished a complete refurb on a bathroom - strengthened the floor and then tiled, reboarded the walls and tiled, 4 new units, W/C, basin, bath, shower, bath screen, replumbed for mains water. Never a dull moment :)
They would like me to do their kitchen next...
 
thanks for that kind remark ,luckily the builder is carrying on for the moment so with luck the floor will be tiled later ,he has also re-boarded the kitchen wall this morning .we had a leak between the bathroom floor and kitchen ceiling while away on holiday it turned out to be a old lead pipe buried in the wall ,aaarrrrgggggghhhh the plumber has got man flu so should appear shortly ,probably caught it off of me anyway
