batch renumbering in cs3

hi all. i'm on my phone at the moment typing this and can't search. think it is an easy question too.

I have a hundred or so files I want to rename. they are in order such as IMG_2139, IMG_2142 and soon.

is there a way in cs3 I can quickly rename all of the photo's

I'm sure you can set up an action that will allow you to do that. All the action needs to do is open a file. The automate/batch process will allow you to specify a name and number sequence that the files can then be saved as.

Do you have Bridge installed, if so then you could use this to do the renumbering, I'm pretty sure that it would be a lot quicker than an action in PS

When you install PS you get the option of installing bridge (among other things), not everybody does, it doesn't mean always it's a hooky version.

Turns out I have bridge but never needed to use it before. All is sorted now so thanks for the advice. It seems a simple task is quite hard to do!

In Bridge,Go to edit,select all, then go to tools and batch rename in the same folder,select name and start number.....
