Had a couple of memories card with about 400 images each which I moved to a folder on my PC and whilst I was in the other room my little cousin managed to rename all the files to
asf.jpg
asf (1).jpg
asf (2).jpg and so on... :bang:

tried to undo rename but was greyed out. So I thought well its not too much of an issue because atleast the files will still be in the right order... Wrong :bang: all in random order so I cant arrange by name.

Its ok if I arrange by date taken because exif is still there. Is there a way to batch rename them all quickly and getting them back in the correct order? Because if I burn to cd etc it normally plays by file name order.

Oh and I cut and pasted from mem card so no longer got them on there. Also there appears to be some duplicates so god knows what he did lol.

Have a look at the metadata and see if the original filename is still embedded, if so a Bridge/Photoshop script could rename them back to the original filename.

In windows you should be able to sort by time taken, then just select all and rename the first one, the rest will follow like you have now.

Used something called Namexif which sorted it by date time tag so
