So I purchased my Nikon D80 with 18-70mm lens and I am just playing with it now, with random objects from around the house and want to produce a clear background, I am planning to coat a shoeboxes interior with A4 white plain if this makes any sense. Does anyone know any better concepts for a simple close up shot like this?

Various places (like maplin) sell small light tents which are perfect for that.

I got one from Maplin also. It is only a tenner so worth it really.

I took the following product type shot using a flash head diffused through a softbox (you could use a normal flashgun and bounce the light), silver reflector (Baking foil on cardboard would do) and a sheet of mounting card gently curved. Works well!

Black area is edge of softbox, longer piece of card would be better better, only bit I had left though!
ignore the clutter around the room!
