Is it safe to tape or use an elastic band to hold a clear plastic bag over an external flash head to diffuse the light when using it as a fill flash outdoors?
 
Don't see a problem with that, many photographers use the most crude forms to attach to flash without difficulty. Just make sure tape is not too sticky as the residue would be unpleasant to remove!
 
Just make sure it doesn't overheat, can't imagine it would be a problem
 
i have a 430 ex ii btw, if that makes any difference?
 
Only problem I can see is with heat
 
Tissue paper will diffuse it better.:thumbs:
 
Next time you are walking along the street, cast your eyes downwards and pick up some of the many elastic hairbands you see, those that are about an inch or two across. They're just the thing for holding stuff on flashes.

I've seen people do that with fag ends :thumbs:
 
bottom off a ptfe milkbottle (2 pint) wedges onto the head of a 420ex without needing anything to secure it
