Hey everyone :)

So, looking to get a nice small basic rig to have fun with at home and practice some portrait style photos...

The following items are what I've found so far, any suggestions are appreciated, mainly concerned if they all work with my equipment and if its all going to be suitable :)

What equipment is it going to have to work with?
Why do you need a tripod?

More info will make suggestions easier and more useful...

Sorry mate forgot equipment wasn't listed :P

Nikon D50
Sb600 Flashgun

The tripod was to put the flashgun on...

Other people can advise you better than me, but I suggest your first point of contact should be FITP (member here), who sells very similar equipment at low prices.
I suppose that that tripod could be useful, but it's VERY low and a cheap lightstand would be much better

Fair enough :) Could you show me the things that flash in the pan sells that would suit me? Im a complete grade A noob :P (Cmon, you love me really)

Bry

You will need:

Wireless trigger set to get flash off cam.

Light stand to hold the flash

Cold shoe (mount the flash on the light stand with this)

Softbox or umbrella to difuse the light

Best advice, check Flash in the Pans stuff on the advertisers part of the for sale section and send him a pm with what you have and that you want to set up a basic lighting kit and he will sort you out.

PM'ed FITP now to order :) Hope you lot realize you have now signed yourselves up to the "Help JEMDNA learn which way up things go" service :P

Once you purchase and have test driven your kit can you post a review?

I have a very similar setup to yourself and am hoping to have a play too but with a limited budget!

cheers,

James

Amazon arnt selling them for that price anymore, but for £20+. Best bet is e-bay where a few select sellers are still selling them for about £12-ish.

Your right.... 100% increase... :'(

I bought a pair for £23 just before Christmas...
