Basic Guidelines for Stock Photography

I have read a few threads about producing images for stock photography and need some advise.
What kind of things should I set about shooting as a starting point?
Do I need a flash gun?
thanks.

No you don't need a flash and you can shoot anything you like as long as you meet your stock sites acceptance criteria.

The trick with making money with stock is you either have to be wildly good, or original or hardworking.

Just go to any stock site and type in business man, and check out the images that load up. That's what you up against.

You can choose are very much less known area say 'blue donuts' and have far less competition.

Of course more people buy images of business men then blue donuts....(and buy the way there are still 11 pages of blue donuts on shutterstock to compete against)

Try to find keywords you think people will need images of, but that don't return too many images.

The other method is more the hobbiest way shoot what you want, upload when you like and if you get a sale your happy :)
