Yes
I want to move from the inboard flash to an attached flash gun. I can not afford anything really expensive, but would like to start using one. Do these flash guns have an auto setting which works out how much light to discharge depending on the available light. I want to use it when shooting outdoors to open up the dark areas in shadow.

Thank you in advance

yes pretty much any flashgun you buy now will be able to go full auto. i would recommend a jessops 360afd flashgun, i have one and really recommend it ive never owned any other flashgun so i cant compare but i lurrvve it, not a bad price either considering there going for £79 at the moment.

:plusone: with regards to the jessops 360afd, I also have one, and I am pleased with it. As a starter flash it is ideal, as I was not sure if I would use a flash a lot so did not want to blow big money on the Sony branded ones.

I've never looked at Jessops flashes before, but these look just like what I need rather than blowing £175 a go on a Metz flash; glad you boys posted this!

But you'll lose all auto control off-camera, unless it is connected by a dedicated cord.

Thank you for all your replies.... it looks like I will be visiting Jessops very soon then.

I dont like the look of the jessops one, dont know why but one reason is for money you pay I think you may as well get the real thing. Dont know what brands fit sony, otherwise I would be suggest brands like, Nissin, Metz, Yong-nuo etc. Best advice i can give you is dont rush into something.

i just pm'd "Flash in the Pan" re: a YN flashgun and cable.... i think thats the route i'll be taking personally...

have a look in the forum advertisers section, thats where i found him :)

They dont fit sony though, nikon and canon only.
