Bartering with Jessops, any luck?

i went in to a local jessops yesterday for a tamron 17-50mm f/2.8
they said they can order it in at 500 odd quid
i asked about a price match and reeled off three retailers selling for 405 405 and 415 to which the lady said we only match high street stores
for a camera store they are pretty useless sometimes

What high street retailers are selling the tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 CV for those prices?
I know of at least 3 selling at those prices online and I know for fact their profit margin is next to nothing on them.
 
none mate that is why everybody is buying online
i like to go in a shop and pay for a product but when they sell one item for 130-00 more than you can buy online what can you do

So...you want them to maintain a high street presence, with all the extra cost that entails and yet still pricematch a retailer who works out of a warehouse on an industrial estate? It hardly makes them "useless" just because they will only pricematch other comparable retail outlets.

If you go into a pub do you think they are "useless" because they won't sell you a pint of beer for the same price as buying a can out of Tesco?
 
I got my 5dmk2 a week ago from Warehouse Express in Norwich. Not that far from you. Found them to be the best for price and service. Do be careful for any sort of throw ins as they are not always genuine Canon especially battery grip. I hope you will be as pleased as I am with the camera. Just awesome results and well worth the wait and money. One tiny thing you may want to consider, If you are using CS4 you will need to update to be able to open RAW images. However, the camera bundle does come with Digital Photo Professional which has, I think, a very good Raw processor.

tbh i am not overly bothered if jessops are there or not
if they have what i want at the right price i buy it if not i buy elswhere
i did say pretty useless sometimes as i have had no trouble getting a price match on a camera last year
 
After being away for a bit I am back in the market for some gear.

I went into Jessops today and they agreed to match all of warehouse express prices , I was asking about a fair value of equipment but they had no issue in matching the price straight away.

I then went to Jacobs and they were cheaper again as they matched warehouse express but then had Nikon plus ( or something like that) also which would save me £130 using vouchers.

Still going to haggle some more tomorrow.

I have had discount from Jessops it is always worth asking....
 
When I bought my compact from Jessops I asked the salesman if he would do me a "package deal" if I bought a card & case as well. I did manage to save around a tenner, rather it be in my pocket than their till!
 
i have been to one of my local stores today and asked them there price match policy
the guy has ordered me in a lens and price matched it saving me 125-00
fingers crossed now and just waiting for a call when it is in
