Barney's 52 for 2026

And a little broken chip off the white table in the background...

Nice capture Wayne. The brake lights in the puddle but not the main image works really nicely - the reflection gives us more info rather than just being a mirror image.

Thanks Kane, the lights made the decision for me,

I also enjoyed the

1 kerb
2 yellow lines
3 red brake lights

The driver's a wuss. He could have covered you :ROFLMAO:
A similar type of shot to my bus one. I like it that you are more zoomed in than I was able to :)
He couldn't Tim, I made sure of that. :ROFLMAO:

I was about 20-30 feet behind at 200mm, in a holly bush crouched low by a fence so the drivers could not aim for me. LOL

I had this subject in mind as soon as I saw the theme "looking through" , I reasoned that some of you guys might not have seen these old open lift shafts and I thought they were interesting looking through at the cables etc. So rarely do we see how they work..

I took around a dozen shots.. dark scene at 1600 and hand held at 1/4 to 15th second so not the best... No crops

Lift at another floor so empty shaft

Looking through the gates to the bottom of the shaft

As usual when i go out in public areas I got chatting to a lovely girl

week six - Looking through-4.jpg

I asked her to go up to the next floor and come down in the lift to which she kindly obliged

She gave me a lingering look as she left for home . :) what a beautiful smile.

Great subject matter. Your chosen shot is the pick for me. Very effective and teliing a story

I think I prefer #2 overall, but I can understand your choice due to the added human element.
I think I would have cropped it to make it more symetrical though, as it is obviously the subject.

My choice would be the first but I thought it too complicated a stretch for viewers. Looking through life, from right to left the youthful energy of the stairwell, the mid life lift and the wheelchair of old age. I take your point on cropping but the sharpness due to low shutters would not accommodate much. I also didn't like the multiple light colours but makes the subjects in the lift stand out in a way. 15mm and a tripod would have got me nearer to a final result.

Thanks for your advice!

Very clever:)

Thanks for the kind words, to be honest the result surprised me a little, the black reflections on white water turned invisible, enabling the view of the bottom of the bucket, I had an hour or two pondering the nature of cloaking devices and the common conception of a silvery substance reflecting or bending light where as black would render transparent.

Nice tick!

Another off the bucket list

Just catching up. You’re Looking Through set is great, and the Reflectins in Water works well for the theme.

Great set of 'looking through' images Wayne, you've definitely chosen the best one in my opinion.

Your reflections shot is a great idea and really well executed.

That's a nice idea. I like the way the bottom of the bucket comes through the reflected hands.
