Anyone got a nook?

I just bought a nook HD from ebay to test apps I built on the platform and I'm really impressed with it.

It runs android but its a customised version of it and it is so much better than the native android OS, much more intuitive and seemless.

Its the first tablet other than ipads that I've actually been impressed with. Would recommend

Hi Joe,

What is the screen like for looking at pictures?

Thanks

i wouldnt say it was great for that function. it has a very matt like screen with a slight greyish tint which seems to make it better designed for reading books, nothing like my ipad for the glossy display that shows off pictures really well.

It's funny how subjective these things are - I played around with a Nook HD 9" not so long ago and thought the interface was inferior to stock Jelly Bean - it was quite laggy to switch between screens (compared to my Nexus) and the OS theme looks a bit dated to me, reminds me a bit of that dreaded brushed metal styling that was in fashion a few years ago.

That said, but they aren't going after tech savvy users with it and I'd definitely buy one for the wife if she wanted it. I think the screen is lovely and very sharp and most websites are very readable at 100% view. It might not quite be as good as a retina iPad but it is significantly nicer than a ipad2 and a fair bit better than the iPad mini. Probably on par with the Nexus 7 screen sizes aside.
