I'm starting to toy with the idea of selling up one of my D700s + grip and investing in a D750 body + grip.

Just wondering if anyone's had any joy in-store or online asking for discounts / freebies on big purchases?

It's not so much the size of the purchase as it is the profit margin they have to play with. The Camera Pricebuster site has the D750 priced only from £1388 to £1399 over 16 sellers, so I'm guessing there really isn't any room for price reductions there. You might score a second year guarantee, but money off doesn't look promising I'm afraid. http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/Nikon/Nikon-Digital-SLRs/Nikon-D750-Camera-Body

Edit: John Lewis have it at £1390 with a 2 year guarantee http://www.johnlewis.com/nikon-d750...2-tilting-lcd-screen-black-body-only/p1707282

I bought a couple of lenses last month from LCE which came to about £1300. Thought I may as well ask to see if a bit of discount was possible, they price matched Amazon.

It was about £80 off which amazed me, but great service.

Sometimes, as above, you never know and it's certainly worth asking for price match / offers ?

I've had mixed results, sometimes I've managed to get discount / price matches, sometimes not...

As the saying goes 'if you don't ask, you don't get' :)

It's always worth asking! I've never had huge success getting cash of the actual item with camera gear but I've usually managed to get some freebies or a decent discount on accessories such as memory cards, filters or batteries.
