bargain lighting set up £40

What's the diameter of the brolly for this set? I might pick one up for the stands and brollies.

how did you manage to get one at 40 ? i couldnt find a buy it now one and had to bid for mine... but 41.99 isnt too bad

can we see some pics of them setup please, i want some for my birthday i think.

I have the other set up with these. 2 softboxes with those bulbs and stands. I dont think the bulbs are strong enough for studio other than fill in, so....I removed the bulb from one and mounted a powerfull flashgun [long cable ties] in the softbox firing directly through the difuser. Now that works. That leaves the other soft box for fill in or hair lighting/rim etc.Main light is a Courtney 2000 bounced from a silver brolly with modeling light.
I also got the BG stands and BG material [white] for a very good price.

So in answer to the OP's question...they are very good value even if you only want the stands and brollies. Find a way to mount Flashguns in them and use them that way.
Good luck with them. Looking forward to seeing the results.

Looks like he who hesitates is lost as I can't find any, the outfit I bought mine from (received Wed) don't seem to be listing any more, though I haven't looked trough all their listings as there's about 450 odd. Pity as they are good value.....

Never mind, snooze you lose, as my mates always say!

I keep missing these, at this price you can't really go wrong. Must keep my eyes peeled. Hopefully they will get another batch in.

3 more left http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2X-Photo-Stud...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318 according to listing, I would email the seller and see if hes going to relist or you can purchase direct.

:suspect: Did anyone else get a set of these before the auction closed?

Within the auction it says:

Orders usually ship within 24 hours of payment Monday through Saturday. Delivery time is about 2 to 3 days, however in rare cases it could take 7-9 days. Delivery time for International orders is about 5 days in most cases, and in rare cases could be up to 2 weeks. Canadian and International orders are subject to search by local customs authorities which can delay delivery by several weeks.

Which sounds reasonable, though the shipping costs are a little excessive. But I want them and the lights are cheap enough.

Then once I pay for them I get this email (which may I add, I recieved ... Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 6:53 AM)

Now I am worried again. Even more so when I put that code into the system (once I have figure out WHERE to put it lol) on the DHL site :shake:

I've sent him another message asking for him to tell me whats going on. As yet, no response, and it has been almost 24hours.

Ugh this always happens to me :bang:

Did anyone else get some of these, or indeed anything from this seller? Did it end for you OK?

Did you pay by paypal? If so, nothing too much to worry about, if only the hassle.

Yes thankfully I did. I always seem to get the hassle though

I bought these and had the exact same standerd e mail and all was well.

i cant remember how many days it took to arrive after this email but i do remember it was under the 7 days quoted.

hop this puts your mind at rest a little

It does, so thank you very much.

I also got an email from the seller a little while ago to say I was sent the DHL information by accident, and I'm still getting mine via Royal Mail. Don't see how he could have mixed that up so badly, but at least it sounds like there is hope. I'm always happy to hear that

Just to let you know I got mine this morning, nicely packed and comes in a bag to store it all.

These look as though they have been relisted, I've just purchased a set but unfortunately they have increased by £10 so now £51.98 inc P&P.

Regards David

This for Jo and any others who reply to the ad on ebay.

If you look closely at the seller and any other similar item from the UK, 99% are sent from Greater Manchester and all have massive sales and have roughly a 98.9% positive feedback. There must be at least 20 different sellers all selling the same stuff. All from Greater Manchester and all have positive feedback for their photo stuff, less so for the gadgets and games console stuff they sell.

I have bought off 'one of these sellers' in the past and their response does seem strange but it did arrive.

I am not saying these guys are doing anything illegal but they must be cutting some sort of corners.

I am sure your stuff is OK Jo.

After all that, they turned up this afternoon via PARCEL FORCE! From Germany, not Manchester

Having just got them set up and tested, they are indeed very nice, and worth every penny. But boy of boy does the seller need to sort his customer service messages out!

I did think the postage might have been a bit excessive at £10 (for mine) but when you pick the bag up, it's quite heavy.

Mine arrived in less than 7 working days.

Just took delivery of a set of these myself, they also came from Germany, still they only took a week so very happy, Ok first impressions from someone who doesn't know anything about portable studio lighting, they where very well packaged come in a decent bag, with 2 separate bags for the stands, the stands seem fairly sturdy and the brollies are a good size, lights are nice and bright but will give them a test run over the next few days once i find a guinea pig :D, i have to say i primarily got these for the stands and brollies and with a couple of brackets can use them with a couple of SB-600/SB-800,s i was in Digital depot last year and they where selling 1 stand 1 bracket and a smaller brolly for £70ish from what i remember, so i think these are quite a bargain.

I'm hoping to test mine out either tonight or tomorrow night as well :D

I don't know if you noticed, but we turned our room light off before turning ours on. I was very impressed with the amount of light from them. But even more impressed when I turned them off and turned the room light back on again... I can see now just how yellow tungsten light is
