........to buy the Canon 100mm f2.8L IS from Tesco Direct at the bargain price of £499.97 http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-4718.aspx

But whilst I enjoy my macro photography I'm really set on getting the 7D, so at the point of entering my card details I backed out !

Maybe I'll regret its, but think I'll get more pleasure from the 7D when the old piggy bank says I can afford one.
 
Indeed it does, but the product description is of the L version. Std 100mm macro is also there advertised at £469
 
Interesting, description definitely sounds like the 'L' macro lens with hybrid IS, but as chilliz states, photo is of the older 100mm macro. Seems like the info is incorrect, shame :(
 
Image also states 'new', maybe just used old 100mm lens for the image. Maybe worth a email to Tesco
 
I saw this and wondered, the image is the old lens but the title and description are the new IS one... and they also have the older non IS 100mm macro listed at a different price. I figured it was worth a punt, hopefully I've scored a bargain and if not then I'll be returning a non-IS macro lens to Tesco.

Macro lenses are something I buy then get fed up with after a while, but having sold my 135f2 I will get one of these.:D
 
I see it's now £799.99!
