Agreed....of the 26 lenses listed under price cuts, only 7 are in stock (the cheaper ones). The others have been out of stock for quite some time...makes me wonder if Argos are making money on the web traffic generated by their site :thinking:
 
Never found one of these Argos specials that was actually in stock anywhere no matter what area you tried, bet there was just one to avoid falling foul of trading standards

Jessops are much better when they have the very cheap bags on offer, usually find one within sensible distance
 
Basically its only worth looking at the ones that offer home delivery as they won't have them in any store.I did get a bargain on a lens a few months ago that was cheaper than anywhere else but I think they only have a few and they don't take them down when they are sold as it makes them look good.so the idea is to look and then act quickly.
 
I know one very special offer that was genuine with available stock and that was when they sold the 5D/7D grips and the batteries at a knock down give away price.
 
Someone posted about the canon 200mm f2.8L a week or so back and when I searched locally it was showing as in stock at one store, although I didn't attempt to buy it in the end.

Yep, they had some of those in stock in Cardiff too, but I wasn't very interested in that particular lens.
 
When I posted the 200mm thread, I could get one sent to both my local stores with about a 4 day lead-time.

As I know 200mm is too long for me in a prime, I decided to save the money towards an L zoom instead, but posted it in case anyone else could get one.
 
There are still some 200l primes for 469 and 24l for a fraction over a grand. I was tempted for the prime pipe but SWMBO spoke and Im no longer tempted. I wanted both really!

Have just rung Argos and been on to say why was it still on site as it was a tease as not 1 store in the UK has it.
He apologised and said it was discontinued and should not be online. He was going to speak to Der Management.
Typical :(
 
I just checked with Canon, and according to them the Lens is NOT discontinued, it is still available for sale ;)
