Does anyone know how long an online bank transfer from say barclays to natwest would take and if it's immediate/ couple of hours is this still the case over a weekend, evening etc.?

Thanks

Should go via faster payments if the Natwest account has been activated as a recipient (which I think all Natwests have) so less than one hour.

Almost instant anyweek of the day.
Certainly is when the wife tranfers from her Barclay's account to others.

When I do a transfer from barclays immediate to another bank it takes three days barclays to barclays its straight away

Most are within a couple of hours, certainly are from my HSBC account, ive transferred money to lots of other different banks when purchasing stuff, sometimes its there within minutes, I used to transfer to Mother in Laws UK Barclays account regularly (they live in Spain) they had access to the money within the hour

As others have noted, if the payment is eligible for FPS, it will be pretty much instant.

You can check if the recipient bank is capable of receiving faster payments here:
http://www.ukpayments.org.uk/sort_code_checker/

Note that there's a maximum amount you can transfer under FPS, and most banks will set an arbitrary limit somewhere below this. If you breach the limit, the payment will be sent via BACS or BPS and will take a couple of days to clear,

thanks

i tried to ring Barclays on several numbers, but india call centre couldn't help

dropped an email and got a reply within a couple of hours

- current daily third party transfer limit is £10k
- usually done by faster payments service, if not BACs and will take several days

i'm not sure if that in online only as i would imagine in branch you can transfer as much as you like?
