Try not to miss the Gothic Quarter, Bari Gotic, the old city is full of history, charm, and a gorgeous aesthetic. You will find winding alleyways, old world architecture, and hidden gems around every corner. The Gothic Quarter is the historic heart of Barcelona and a must do for getting the true sense of history. It is the site of the original Roman town and full of Roman through to medieval buildings.

In Montjuic pay a visit to the temporary Barca FC home at the Olympic Stadium and for the best views of Barca + great food go the Olympic swimming pool down the road a bit. Demolish the tapas first then sit on the steps with a pint of Estrella and work out your pano shot.

Add in Cuitadella Park, Placa Espana for the fountains (they should be working again now the drought is over) and the Museum of Spain a bit higher up, or lower if you're come back down from the fore mentioned stadium.

Have you got time for all this? Barcelona is a big place and needs at least five days minimum to get it all in.

Agree with Montjuic, great views from the bar and good for people watching.

Don't forget

Palau Güell

Early Gaudi building with a surprise on the roof!!

The Castell de Montjuïc is an historic old fort with great views over the port and the city. The tour of the towers at Sagrada Familia is spectacular as is the church high on hill on the outskirts called Tibidado Mountain. They're all easily accessible by public transport and offer great views and photo opportunities.

There are also some great places for street photography off the beaten tracks if you're interested in that, but be cautious after dark and don't leave your phone lying around in a bar or a cafe.
