Going to Barcelona at the weekend, any recommendations on stuff or places to tog?

La Ramblas is a definite, as is La Boqueria, the fabulous market half way down La Ramblas and the rambling mediaeval streets, also off La Ramblas. Gaudi's houses, La Pedrero and Casa Batlo are stupendous as is the Familia Sagrada. All of that is on the standard tourist routes - but in truth, wherever you go in Barcelona you will find something to photograph, it's a fabulous city. But make sure you hang on to your camera.

Been there twice and I'm looking to go again over the summer with my girlfriend. It depends on what you want to take pictures of. Las Ramblas is fantastic for people, as it's full of stalls and street acts. FC Barcelona are playing at home against Xerex as well, so the Nou Camp and its surrounding bars will be fantastic for that sort of stuff as well.

Park Guell and the Sagrada Familia are also fantastic if you want great views of the city and as well as some fantastic architecture. Beyond that, the back alleys of Barcelona are diverse and will provide some fantastic snapshots and street photography.

I also have to echo the "keep an eye on your equipment" sentiment. As fantastic as Barcelona is, it's a haven for pickpockets (like most European cities are), so be sure to keep an eye out and definitely have some decent travel insurance.

The Casa Mila by Gaudi is very nice, especially the roof. The inside of Casa Batllo, again designed by Gaudi, is stunning. The balcony's look like skulls. Park Guell is very nice, though as with all Gaudi influenced sites, they are very busy, but I think worth it. ;) I'm always slightly disappointed by the Sagrada Familia. Too many cranes.

There are great views of the city from Tibidabo.

Torre Agbar is very colourful at night. A very colourful equivalent of the Gherkin in London.

The Magic Fountain is a very good show. :)

I forgot to add that if you can see a game at the Nou Camp, and you like footy, seeing a game is a must. As is going around the museum there, though that takes hours. I sat about four rows from the top of the stand, and you get good views of the city from the top of the stand. Buying a ticket was the easiest thing I have ever bought online, and you even print out your own ticket. No having to rely on the post. :D

I was out there last week and ended up there 5 days longer than i should have been. I think that others have covered it quite well but be careful with your equipment and wallet.
I had a pickpocket try to get something out of the rear pocket of my jeans but i felt it and told him and his 3 mates to F*** off. I only had a city map in the pocket as my wallet was chained to my front pocket.
Fantastic city and i love Tapas now after finding a great bar on Mallorca street Just along from Balmes

Oh yeah, you must order paella while you're there. Bloody fantastic stuff. If you can get it with langoustines then even better!

La Ramblas is a definite
I'd disagree, unless they've built a sensor that removes tourists. I'd also avoid Park Guell for the same reason, it's pointless unless you have the place to yourself

Barcelona is a great city so much to see and do.There are photo opportunities every where not just the main tourist spots. You must have a look in the camera shops we moan about our prices wait until you see there's. Have a great time and like others have said keep a eye on your stuff.

how long you going for brother? Dont forget to bring some good port back :P

Some of the street performers on La Ramblas will try and spoil your pic by holding something in front of their face or turning away.
If you have the patience wait around a while and more tourists are bound to try and get a pic. While they are then trying to block them instead of you frame up your shot and the chances are you can press the shutter much faster than they spot you when they turn back towards you.

Oh, eating is late there too. The better restaurants don't seem to open til about 10pm; made for a moaning missus some days if we didn't eat big during the day :shake:
