Hi,

I have set up my garage as a studio for practicing lighting and studio style shots everything works well and there is enough same however, setting up the hi key light with it's soft box, to get a decent distance between that and the subject i have to position the lamp further down the garage which means I have to place it behind the runner/frame for garage door.

This is basically a two inch strip of metal that is right in front of the soft box.

So was wondering with it being so close to the soft box am I likely to get any shadow from the bar?

Thanks for any advice

will test it was just thinking that if its close it may not really create much of a shadow. but testing is the way forward

How big is the softbox? If you think what happens when you stick a great big flash head in front of an umbrella, it's going to make b****r all difference.

It will show in the catchlights in the eyes, and you could either do what David says and make it look like four window panes, or PP the dark bit out if it troubles you.
