If I pay cah into a natwest bank for a natwest customer... guaranteed all account numbers are correct and indeed the bank finds the right accoutn and tells us the name of it... so thats no problem... cash into bank.. how long should it take to clear in recipients account... RBS to RB customer is instant.. why wouldnt natwest be?

Natwest seem to be a bit slow we can vouch for this after selling items here and posting only to find we dont have funds for them untill 5 days later and some times its been a couple more days if a weekend is involved, if you have to do a transfer its quicker to visit the bank and put the cash into the account its done instantly:thumbs:

I thought handing cash over to a natwest bank and the person there looking up the account.. telling us.. is it blah blah and us sating yes thats the one... takes our cash.... I thought that was it.... so it could be days :(

cheers for that DM .. now I know ta:)

Depends I think whether they use the fastpay system.

I transfer funds from Barclays and HSBC to my Abbey a/c and it`s instant.

Cash should be instant even after the dreaded 3:30pm rule.

Cash paid in over the counter clears immediately, all the banks i've done it at the teller keys the account numbers in and updates the account in real time so I don't see why Natwest would be any different, i'm sure i've done it in there before so it should be in the account straight away.

Nat West are historically slow :(

but Nat West to Nat West does seem to be instant though

Cash over the counter into any account with any bank should be credited instantly to that account as Darren says (Wack61).

Chris :)

Indeed.

A friend of mine put some money into my account over the counter. Five minutes later, the transaction appeared on my online banking.

yes thats how it works with RBS for sure and maybe more..

The bank teller was given the account numbers and then asked us if its "company name" we said yes.. so they got the right account.. its the same bank (natwest) paid into and company (not same town)

That was yeterday (mon) morning yet tuesday afternoon company says funds not yet cleared..

I dont have a problem wiht company trust..its not an ebay thing or anything... and i fully expect it all to hapen soon.. just having trouble understanding the delay :( It would seem according to one natwest user (dangermouse) that natwest are a slow company :(

Im a Natwest customer and only last week, i have had a transfer into my account on a sunday and it was instant, and i transferred from my account to another persons bank account and that was also instant and at 11.30pm. Both of these were different banks to NatWest.

I have never had a problem with any slow transactions from Natwest in the 20years i have had a bank account with them.

Strange, my mum has a natwest CC she picked a few things up for the other day while shopping, so i paid here card striaght from my Natwest account online. Funds transfered there and then. Transfering funds from my Abbey acount to Natwest is same day, personally it is my Barclay Card that takes the longest 3-5days to clear.

hmm, dont know what it is now, but Barclays to Barclays was 'instant' then i remember it went to next day 'for security check reasons' not tried in ages (but someone above said its back to instant)

this was cash straight in..

A phone call to my local natwest first thing in the morning then... will tell ya what they say :)

Yeah forgot to add the bit abit that any cash i have ever put into a Bank Account has been striaght away, Credit cards well never paid them by going into the bank. But if online payments are instant i can not for the life of me see why the cash payment wasnt, sounds odd to me. Good luck.

cash should be straight away, give them a chase.

a lot of bank transfers are straight away too these days (there are a couple banks yet to offer this, i seem to remember *****west and alliance and leic dont yet), i did a transfer from HSBC to Barclays last night at about 10pm and it was instant. likewise to halifax and lloyds ive done.

edit - lol at the swear filter picking up my blatent attempt to get around it

Cash is instant. My Santander to another Santander is instant, but to any other account takes up to 4 working days. I've signed up for online banking, so that should be much better.

very difficult to get hold of your local branch by phone.. goiogled it and all numbers are 0845 and want you to input your account numner.. but i ahvent got an account..

finallly tried an 0845 that got a human.. got transferred to my branch.. they say it should be instant but cant check there and then.. they are going to look into it and phone me back today

lesson is... i am not on record as a natwest customer so its not easy to get customer support..

hmmmm

I wouldn't bet on it. My Santander account to or from any othe bank won't be there until the 3rd working day

Did you put a reference number on the transaction?

Is it a big company thats going to be getting loads of bank transactions or a small outfit that gets one line statements?

yep reference number given by company was recorded by the bank.. not that big a company

Fair enough - that's the obvious issues out of the way then.

Straight away is the answer, I am with Nat West and never had a problem with this sort of transaction

You could pay some cash into my account, about a grand will do and I will let you know when Iv'e got it:)

just have to wait now and see what happens first.. bank call back to say funds transferred at x? or shop email saying funds recieved goods sent...

got to be one of those two...erk :)

my local natewest branch boss just phoned me and said the money went into the account no problem on same day and verified the company for me.. so its in..

i wonder why they are saying money not in.. delaying tactics?
heres a clue... 1dmkIV

sigh :(

Would it be rude to ask which company?

Always good to know these things in case of similar experiences

I ahve sent said company an email asking them to clarify situation.. i have purposley not mentioned who just in case its all exlplainable and no ones fault.. but at this point i fail to see how thats possible..

if they are messing me about then the first thing i am gonna do is get my money back then make sure everyon on the planet knows who :)

Why not phone them? email is more recordable.. I have all theres ready to produce if needs be... telephone is all he said she said....

hmmm thats very odd:thinking: I was with Abbey before they changed the name, and they alwyas say it is instant, and it seems to e too.

I think my email has nudged them into action.. Just got a reply saying the funds are now in there account and they are shipping my 1dmkIV today for delivery tommorow..

No explanation as to where my money has been for 2 days though :(

Well, a 1D Mk4 is around 4 1/2 grand, so the cash could possibly have raised a few eyebrows with the money laundering lot. Not sure exactly what the current threshold is but it could be that low.

My wife hates going to the bank to get money like that out for camera equimpment.. she says they always ask what its far and look at you like your up to somehting :)

its 10K and then the banks have to flag it to them. Won't slow things down unless its suspicous even then

Hugh

When I worked in car sales the cash limit without a licence was £9k although we often ignored this for repeat customers, 4 1/2 should not cause a problem, even if it did the shop should have informed you of this, perhaps the seller was buying in stock with your cash.?
